Aether

For folks in the overlanding and off-road adventure worlds, Aether is probably a familiar name. Since 2009, this brand has been making superb gear and apparel for the kinds of folks that like to look good while they're kicking up dust — and they offer everything from basic t-shirts to rugged motorcycle boots. There's one realm the brand has only just dipped its toes into, however: watches. But if this first release, a GMT made in collaboration with Bamford London, is any indication, Aether has imbued the same level of excellence and care found across its catalog into this new endeavor.

It Boasts the Sleek Styling We've Come to Expect from Aether

One of the things we've grown to love about Aether is that, even when crafting something made to get filthy (like its aforementioned moto boots), the brand still puts great care into the styling of its gear. This watch is no different, boasting an alluring matte black case with blue and white accents, a subtle topographic-inspired pattern on the dial and a deep blue NATO-style strap.

The whole package comes together beautifully and lends a good deal of versatility to the timepiece. This isn't just something made for off-road adventure, although it could certainly handle it. It's also a watch you might sport for more refined occasions, like a nice dinner out. And that versatility is a boon for something that's admittedly a bit of a luxury item.

The Swiss-Made Internals Are Time-Tested and Reliable

All the styling in the world isn't going to matter much if this watch doesn't do the one thing it is meant to do: tell time. Luckily (and presumably thanks to the help of the folks at Bamford), Aether didn't skimp on the internals, either.

Keeping this watch ticking is a 25-jewel self-winding Sellita SW330-2 movement — a time-tested (no pun intended) Swiss-made internal ticker that has a 56-hour power reserve. That means you can strap this handsome timepiece onto your wrist and then just forget about it (until you need to take a gander at the time, that is) and it'll keep on ticking reliably all the while.

It's Perfect for Jet-Setting World Travelers

For watch geeks, the internal movement information is plenty juicy. But for folks that want to know the real-world applications of what it has to offer, it's the GMT functionality that's going to stand out for this watch. You might have noticed that it has a date window. Well, it also has a fourth hand, which allows users to keep track of a second timezone. For instance, you can set it to your home timezone and then the timezone to which you are traveling and it'll save you a ton of time (pun intended this time) trying to figure out the math. And that makes this an ideal watch for travelers.

The whole package can be yours for $2,500 (which is actually quite reasonable for an automatic GMT). There is a catch, however... This is a limited-edition release and it's already low-stock, so you're going to want to scoop one up while you still can if you have hopes of wrapping this gorgeous watch on your wrist.
